I guess they are talking about English fishermen because this type of haircut is simply called “long back” in French. For seven hundred years, the mullet referred to a fish, but since 1994 it has evolved as a way to describe a hairstyle. For anyone who lived through the 1980s, it may be hard to believe that the word mullet didn`t circulate as a haircut descriptor in the decade when haircuts were popular. But no reference to the mullet as a hairstyle appeared in the press until the Beastie Boys` 1994 song “Mullet Head” called it “a way of life.” This brings us to Mullet Chat: a place where we can identify, classify and justify mules. In the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania, USA, the mullet was glorified by several members of the Pittsburgh Penguins, including Jaromír Jágr. The mule is still popular today and is ridiculed mainly by WDVE radio presenters.
